My 8 Week Challenge Story - Kylie
Before I started this challenge I was feeling deflated, overwhelmed, and lethargic. I wasn't taking very good care of myself, eating the wrong foods and enjoying a drink most nights because the weather was warmer and it was daylight savings. I was staring down the barrel of 2017 feeling this all consuming anxiety, my eldest child is about to start Prep, (I have 3!) and I was about to launch my own business. It was a clear cut case of too much to do, too little time! Add to this my beautiful sister moving back to Geelong to kick off her 8 week challenges and opening her own PT gym. I've never been much of a gym girl, always prefer a dance class. But when the opportunity presented itself to me, and the fact that I would do anything to support my sister, here I was at my first weigh in.Standing there on the scales and being measured I felt ashamed and disgusted in myself, I had clearly let myself go. (I try not to be too hard on myself, I have 3 little ones and as most mothers know, our needs are often last on the list of things to do!) I did not know how I was going to make this challenge work, get to the gym 5 times a week! Umm when?? Cook set meals, no take away, no fish fingers on toast!? (My quick easy choices) Oh and no drinking! To be honest it seemed a bit depressing.Armed with my shopping list I walked into the supermarket having no idea where some things were or how I was going to cook them.I got through the first week, attending the 6pm sessions (as my husband was home by that time) and being organised with my food. All suggested food was very family friendly so hubby and kids always ate the same as me. This was important to me.At the end of week one I was feeling like a different person!! Happier, more motivated, more in control of my anxiety, sleeping better, and a much more patient mummy to my boys!I was a delight to be honest 😝In the second week I went camping with my family and celebrated my birthday!! I drank Vodka, lime & soda on two of the nights but otherwise felt great. I walked most mornings and kept on track with my eating, this was my biggest hurdle of the challenge thus far.I have just finished week 3, and wow!!! I feel fantastic! I have made all my gym sessions, they are only 45 mins of my day. The exercises, as much as they are challenging I am still able to do them, and push myself through the session. What I am achieving now I would never have been able to do 3 weeks ago. I have made some small lifestyle changes and I am happier, healthier, achieving more in my day and prepping all my own food and actually enjoying it!!I have so far lost 3kg, 6cm off my waist, 6cm off my hips and 3cms off my legs!! I can't wait to see what results week 8 will bring!!I am definitely so thankful I started this challenge, I am learning so much about what I eat and how to work out effectively. The gym is so welcoming, friendly and with our own Facebook group the support is 24/7 not just from Lucy but from all the other challengers.I couldn't recommend this challenge more and I'm not just saying that because she my sister!!
